As a club we are aware of the lack of Field Spaniels at many Open shows, which in turn hinders many of our judges to reach the required amount of 'hands on' experience of Field Spaniels to enable them to progress through our judging lists. We feel that it is important to help these judges not by reducing our requirements, as Fields are a unique breed and require potental judges to fully understand the breed by having a good proporton of 'hands on' experience. We have liaised with the Kennel Club and decided to ofer 'Special Award Classes' at our Open Shows, where hopefully there is already a good entry for the Open show itself and many of these exhibitors will also support this idea, giving the invited judge for the Special Award classes a nice entry to go over and therefore enabling them to include these on their C.V. For progression through the lists.
N.B. These Special Awards are judged as an entrely separate entty from the show and will be judged during the lunch tme period.
IF YOUR DOG IS BEATEN IN THE SPECIAL AWARD CLASSES IT IS NOT CLASSED AS A BEATEN DOG AND IS NOT DISQUALIFIED FROM CHALLENGING IN THE
MAIN SHOW. Dogs entered in Special Award classes A, B and C must also be entered in the main show. The Special Award classes are entrely arranged as a method of promotng novice judges.
